Inspiring Icons Talk

‘Inspiring Icons Talk’ is a monthly initiative organized by Team Community Service of Rotaract Club of Hinduja College. It focuses on spreading awareness about the topics which are still considered taboo in Indian society. 

We conducted the first episode with our guest speaker,

Dr Hansel Misquitta. She is a MBBS graduate, and the founder of an instagram page called @myearthremedy. The speaker shared her story of being a COVID warrior and survivor along with her views on covid vaccines

and their effects.

The second episode was conducted with guest speaker, Khushie Nanavaty, an 18 year old teenager. The speaker shared her story of dealing with learning disabilities, dyslexia and dyscalculia. She is spreading positivity on her social media pages (@thrivingeuphoria).

Nelson's Legacy

The team International Service of Rotaract Club of Hinduja College organized ‘Nelson’s Legacy’, a flagship event celebrated on Nelson Mandela Day, 18th July. It was a 2 day initiative in collaboration with the Gilderlane High School with an aim of educating students by teaching

them various new skills.

A Mental Math session was conducted by Rtr. Palin Rathor which helped students grasp a few tips and tricks used for quick mathematical calculations. Along with this a session on Table Etiquettes was conducted by Rtr. Abhishek Bholla 

On day 2, a vocabulary session was conducted by Rtr. Saniya Siroya. The first activity was based on homophones & homographs, at the end of which students could differentiate between commonly used English words. The second activity was based on wordplay wherein students were given certain words and were asked to make new words out of them. The students were enthusiastic, making this a successful event.

Stitch Craft

The team Partners-In-Service of Rotaract Club of Hinduja College organised ‘Stitch Craft’ for interactors of Anjuman-I-Islam Allana High School. The main aim of the event was to teach the vocational skill of stitching. 

The event began with a small introduction from Rtr. Smriti Tomar. After which Rtr. Palin Rathor taught the students how to do a running stitch, a back stitch, and how to sew a button on a piece of cloth. Alongside, a video of the same was shared with the interactors for better understanding. 

Rtr. Smriti Tomar and Rtr. Palin Rathor returned for day 2 of the event, where they recapped the events of the previous day followed by Rtr. Palin Rathor who guided everyone in a step by step manner as to how to stitch a cloth bag. The interactors were interactive throughout the event.

Elevator Pitch

The team Professional Development of The Rotaract Club of Hinduja College organised an online webinar 'Elevator Pitch' on 6th September, 2021. Ms. Manjiri Jamkhindikar, who is a language trainer and an expert in personality enhancement was the speaker for the webinar. It was an enthusiastic training session where the attendees got coached about what an elevator pitch is, how to prepare for an interview and get a job. The speaker cleared their doubts and took mock interviews. 

The event was successful as 40+ participants were noted. They were educated about the elevator pitch & other things related to job interviews. A few of them reached out and appreciated team Professional Development for conducting this webinar.

Rakhi with Khaki

‘Rakhi with Khaki’ was a Community Service initiative taken by the Rotaract Club of Hinduja College to celebrate Rakshabandhan with our National Heroes- the Police Officers. The event was conducted in three states - Maharashtra (Mumbai) at V.P Road Station, Rajasthan (Jodhpur) at Sardarpura Police Station, and Madhya Pradesh (Gwalior) at Morar Police Thana.

 

The police officers were kind and cooperative, and made us feel hospitable. The room took to a happy and emotional aura when we tied rakhi on their wrists. The general public present in the police station were thrilled. We received positive feedback, and were overwhelmed by the appreciation. It's given us the inspiration to do more initiatives like this in the future.

Future Leaders

The Team International Service of The Rotaract Club of Hinduja College conducted ‘Future Leaders’ on 21st November, 2021 for students of Salaam Baalak Trust, Andheri to celebrate World Children's Day.

 

The event commenced with a small round of introduction wherein, kids talked about themselves & their favourite activity. Then everyone played 'Kho-Kho' & 'dog and the bone'. Also, to add more fun, the kids & rotaractors together danced to various Bollywood songs at the end.

 

The children over there were delighted to have cupcakes & spent quality time having fun. The event was appreciated by Salaam Baalak Trust & positive feedback was received.

Inspiring Icons Talk (Ep-4)

‘Inspiring Icons Talk’ is a monthly initiative organized by Team Community Service of Rotaract Club of Hinduja College. An Initiative which focuses on spreading awareness about the topics which are still taboo in Indian society. 

 

The Fourth Episode was conducted with Mr. Chitransh Saxena, Founder Of MY PADBANK, a non-profit organization working on delivering free sanitary napkins to the underprivileged and marginalized sections of the society and they also spread awareness about menstrual hygiene through their Instagram Page @mypadbank.

 

The speaker shared the story of how he started this organization and how he has helped change the mindset of the people that still consider menstruation a taboo in India.

PUT YOURSELF IN THE SPOT

The Team Editorials of The Rotaract Club Of Hinduja College organised 'PUT YOURSELF IN THE SPOT' intending to pull knowledge and entertainment together.

 

The delightful event was held on google forms from 25 November - 29 November. It was based on a renowned series - SQUID GAME. The participants had to choose a character from the leading characters with whom they relate their nature the most. Next, they were given a situation of that particular character and were asked to put themselves in the spot and handle the situation in their way. The main aim of this event was to make everyone understand that "The best ideas emerge when very different perspectives meet".

 

This knowledgeable, as well as entertaining event, was a great success. The participants were filled with curiosity while they were answering the situations. The best answers were added to the story and were given a shoutout on the Instagram handle of @rchinduja.

STOCK BUSTERS

‘STOCK BUSTERS’ was organised by the Team Entrepreneurship Development of Rotaract club of Hinduja college from 23rd November, 2021 to 30th November, 2021.

 

On 23rd November, 2021 a webinar on The World of Stock Market was conducted by Mr. Kevin Shah who is a certified financial planner. He explained how the stock market works and gave different tips on how to invest in stocks. Then an activity was conducted wherein, the participants had to invest in a virtual stock market on the stock trainer app for five days. 

At the end of each day, participants had to send a screenshot of their profits. Participants with the highest profits were declared as the winners at the end of the fifth day.

 

The webinar conducted was very informative & the activity planned taught participants a lot about the stock market giving them a practical idea about trading. 

No Shave November

The Rotaract Club of Hinduja College organised ‘No Shave November’ - A Community Service initiative from 19th November, 2021 to 23rd November, 2021 with the aim to spread awareness about cancer, its causes, symptoms & preventive measures.

 

In this event, the participants had to spread awareness about cancer by either blog writing, poetry writing, digital posters or wearing pink. The participants were asked to submit their entries on the google form between the given dates. Stories on how to prevent cancer were posted on the official Instagram page @rchinduja. The certificate of participation was also given to all the participants.

 

Through this initiative, people learnt about cancer & also got to know about how to support cancer patients.

Ultimate Gaming Fiesta

Team Sports and Digital Communication of The Rotaract Club of Hinduja College conducted "Ultimate Gaming Fiesta" virtually from 15 January, 2022 onwards. The event included virtual and e-sports games, some of which were RCHC Open, Hit or Miss, The Pickpockets, conducted on 15th January. Followed by RCHC Champions League, Badminton Smash on 16th January. 

 

On 17th and 18th January, e-sports games were conducted, like RCHC BGMI Championship and RCHC Valorant Championship. For smooth functioning of the event, WhatsApp groups of each sport and e-sport were made where all the instructions regarding the games were explained through a docket. All the individual and team games were played smoothly and participants enjoyed playing these games.

HINDUJA CARNIVAL’22

The Rotaract Club of Hinduja College organized its legacy event, “Hinduja Carnival'22” virtually this year commencing from 16th February, 2022 to 20th February 2022. It was a 10 days fest where 5 days were for pre-events (10th to 14th February, 2022) and the remaining 5 days for main events with non-stop rotaraction wherein fun, sporty, social cause, professional and entrepreneurial events were conducted along with cultural events. 

 

Hinduja Carnival’22 gave a platform to participants to showcase their talents in various cultural performances as well as allowing them to learn & develop interpersonal skills from various amusing & enlightening events. An event to improve communication skills was held for school students and social service initiatives were undertaken. 

 

All the participants of Hinduja Carnival, as a team, donated Rs. 8057/- to a social cause by organizing a Walkathon via Impact Application. A giveaway Contest was held post-Hinduja Carnival for celebrating & sharing the joy of its success. 20+ events were executed throughout the Hinduja Carnival’22 along with 250+ participations making it a grand event.

Inspiring Icons Talk is a monthly initiative organized by Team Community Service of Rotaract Club of Hinduja College. An initiative which focuses on spreading awareness about the topics which are still taboo in Indian society. 

 

The Seventh Episode was conducted with Ms. Meenakshi Mahapatra, who is working as a full time activist. She is the founder of Animal Welfare Association Panchkula, which is a non-profit organization. It's been 8 years since she has been working for this cause and her team rescues animals in distress, spaying/neutering the community dogs and spreading awareness about the animals on her Instagram page @awapanchkula. 

 

The speaker shared her story on how she started this organisation and how she has helped to change the mindset of people regarding animals who still consider hunting animals and harming them for their own purpose.

VASTRA-DAAN

VASTRA-DAAN was a Community Service initiative of The Rotaract Club Of Hinduja College conducted on 13th February, 2022 at Being Child Care NGO. The event was conducted with the help of our Alumni, Ammar Kanorwala.

 

Few activities for the students were planned. The girls were given clothes and the boys were given chocolates. The students and NGO faculty were delighted as the team donated clothes to them along with some snacks.

Fun, Learn and Grow 2.0

Fun, Learn & Grow 2 is the second phase of Fun, Learn & Grow ~ a workshop initiated last year for Bhavishya-yaan students by the Team Partners-In-Service of RC Hinduja intending to teach various things to students in a fun & unique way. 

 

Fun, Learn & Grow 2 was a two day workshop. On day 1, we conducted the ‘Who Am I’ game wherein we asked students to solve a few riddles. This helped them to improve their thinking capabilities and creativity while enhancing their vocabulary. On the second day, we conducted ‘The Memory Game’ & ‘Educational Tambola’. In the memory game, slides with 10 words written on them were shown & the students were given a minute to say all the words after remembering them. In Educational Tambola,
