Baby Angel Chavan
Rotaract Club of Bombay Hills South raised funds for ‘Baby Angel Chavan.’ This little soul would be undergoing pediatric heart surgery at SRCC Hospital, Mumbai. RCBHS was successful in raising Rs 15,000, the amount required to get the child admitted to the hospital.
Project Vidya
The team at Rotaract Club of Bombay Hills South organized the event ‘Project Vidya’ on the occasion of World Nelson Mandela Day, celebrated on the 17th of July. RCBHS took this opportunity to distribute stationery kits to the children at Wadia Childrens’ Hospital.
Initially, we found a beneficiary with the help of Rtn. Meenakshi Kumar. We got in touch with the head of the social service department in Wadia hospital. We were surprised to know that even during the pandemic there were 200 kids receiving treatment. We raised INR ₹22,000 and ensured that every child would receive a kit.
Quarter 2
Pawfect
Stray dogs are always at risk of getting run over on busy highways in Mumbai. By reducing accidents, the goal is to keep street animals safe at night. Reflective collars increase visibility in the dark and lessen the probability of an accident. The Rotary Club of Mumbai Lower Parel collaborated on this project. A total of 100 belts were ordered based on the target area, which was HABA (Masjid Bandar), Tardeo, and the streets of Worli and Worli Seaface. We began with HABA since it is an NGO that rescues blind and deaf dogs. Thirty dogs were collared in all. We were praised by the owner for our kindness.
Moving on, we headed to the streets of Tardeo Jetty, where the local fisherman assisted us in tying the collars because the dogs tend to get more hostile when they see outsiders. There were a total of 25 dogs collared there. Moving on, the dogs at Worli and Worli Seaface were collared, totaling 45 dogs. It was a successful day for both Rotaractors and Rotarians. Reflective dog collars are preferred, especially while walking the dog at night, because they ensure that oncoming cars do not hit you and the dog, keeping you and the dog safe and secure. After a week, we moved forward as a team to see if the collars were still there, and they were, which contributed to the project's success.
Kindling a Life
Dr. Pooja Tanwani of Dr. Pooja's Child Care Hospital contacted the club's President about the preterm infant and the money that needed to be raised to keep her in the light room after her 26th operation. Without a doubt, the goal was to do our best as a club to raise cash to help the child's timely and successful surgery. The information received by the club was widely circulated among Rotaract and Rotary groups. The feedback and encouragement we received from our parent Rotary, the Rotary Club of Bombay Hill South was immense. The Rotary Club of Mumbai Lower Parel assisted us in raising the necessary funds, which were immediately deposited at the hospital for the child's operation.
As soon as the club learned of the news, the entire club jumped into action to gather donations for the young soul, and little did we know, Rs 65,000 was donated in just 6 hours. The precise amount required to get the tiny soul admitted to the hospital on time for the procedure was raised thanks to the foresight of our parent Rotary. Among the many kind contributions and supporters, Rtn. Savita Dutta was a major donor for this fundraising, adding years and hope to the child's future.
